Hannah has been a pain in the ass to homeschool. I love the child with all my heart, but good grief, everything with this child is a battle. Hannah is a VERY smart child who likes to do things in her OWN time frame. Writing was a struggle (still is on some aspects) and you have read about of journey with reading.
If Hannah were to go to public school, she would have had to wait another year because of the birthdate cut off. She misses it by 4 days. She looks like a 1st grader and is just as tall as most of them. Emotionally though, she is the MIDDLE CHILD. The only thing worse than THE BABY is the MIDDLE CHILD. So in August when I decided that she needed something to do while the other 2 did school I started her with some workbooks. She loves having something to do when the other 2 are "schooling" however she battled me WEEK AFTER WEEK and would not shut the hell up long enough for the other 2 to take a spelling test. This morning was the same battle, she wanted something to do but did not want to do writing, it is not her read to mommy day today, and coloring is for toddlers. I needed to head to walmart to get eggs and Easter shoes and while we are meandering through the food section Hannah says to me...
Hannah: "Mommy do you know why I don't like t do school?"
Me: "Because you are Hannah and it is your goal in life to drive me insane?"
Hannah: "No Mommy!!! It is because I don't like that workbook. I want a different one. That one stinks!!!"
Me: "So if I let you pick out a workbook you will do it, no arguement?"
Hannah: "Yep!"
Me: "Its a deal, lets pinkie promise on it!"
We walked over to the school aisle which has some crappy workbooks, but workbooks all the less and she picked on out and has not done 10 pages in her workbook WILLINGLY this afternoon.
*SIGH* When it is time to start her new workbooks she and I will pack a sack lunch and go to the teacher supply store and she can take as long as she wants to pick out books. If it takes 6 hours, as long as she does not give me grief about doing them....I will sit there for 6 hours.
